happy gal 88

This blog is about all things that make me happy. Why happy gal? Because I strongly believe that life is short and we must treasure every second of it. Why brood and live life unhappily?! I hope every reader finds some happiness on this blog : ) See my Korean blog - Seoul Far Seoul Good - @ http://www.seoulfarseoulgood.blogspot.com/

Humpty Dumpty had Four Bad Falls

I’m in half a mind to see a lawyer to change my name to Humpty Dumpty… Why? Because I fell down again today ; ( Boo Hoo Hoo! Still can’t believe the number of times I’ve fallen down this year… not once, not twice, not thrice but FOUR TIMES! And the last time I fell down before 2006 was four years ago.

Gosh, whatever’s wrong with me? And I thought I’m very athletic. Sigh, there’s a Chinese saying that these are little mishaps that will prevent a major one. I sure hope so… at least the butt ache is worth it then.

Now that I’ve finished ranting, the week didn’t finish too badly. Third day of shopping today and I got a pair of bikini… and I cooked 야채씨개 (Veggie Bean Paste Stew), my 4th Korean dish…

(This is a really great week)

Besides the sun and stars, I also love rainbows...

[Translation: I am very happy. This is a great week. The weather has been good. Sometimes it rained. But when I’m walking home or shopping, the rain will stop.

On Thursday, I had Japanese food for lunch. The lobster sashimi and grilled squid was really tasty. When I went home at night, I saw many stars. I love stars!

And the Great Singapore Sale started yesterday. In an hour, I bought a bag and a pair of yoga pants. Next week, I’ll have no more money. Because I would have bought a lot of clothes!]

These may seem simple and little things but they really made my week. And I feel very blessed. Guess sometimes it’s a matter of finding your own happiness.

(Why is every weekend so busy?)

My favourite mocha cheesecake bake... but it'll be some time before I bake it again cos it's too fattening!

[Translation: A weekend has 48 hours. But 48 hours aren't enough. Play tennis, shopping, bake cookies and cakes, study korean, watch movie... how? And I'll be going to my new house next week. (Actually, I was going to say "I'm collecting the keys to my new flat next week" but my teacher has not taught me yet. I can only form sentences with one object and one verb.) Therefore, I'll have to buy new furniture.]

This will probably be my last posting in Korean until I learn more words and sentence structures. It's just taking too much of my time.

Anyway, the weekend ended well... I cooked carrot and ginger soup (above), played tennis, studied Korean, went for one hour of Pilates and bought lots of food stuff for my family.

(What to Eat for Breakfast?)

[Translation: Bread, oat porridge, milk, banana and hamburger... what shall I have for breakfast? I love oat porridge. I eat this everyday when I'm working. But during weekends, I'll bake muffins if I have time. And on Sundays, if I don't play tennis, I'll bake bread!]

Photos: My new bakes for the week ; ) Top - my new olive bread : ) and Three different types of healthy yogurt bran muffins -- filled with kaya, peanut butter and cranberries.

Cruising to a Stop

No, no, I’m not talking about a car or life… I’m talking about… who else but Tom Cruise. Just watched Mi3 – Mission Impossible 3 – and I must say I was disappointed.

Tom Cruise was my first idol when I was in my teens. I still remember how I was so charmed by him that we gals would scream just looking at his poster… yah, that’s how crazy I was. Anyway, I think the almighty Cruise is losing his charm. Must be because of Kathie Holmes.

Back to the movie, which was lacklustre compared to the previous two sequels. The plot was thin and 98% of the moves were expected. There wasn’t any explanation on what exactly was the secret weapon that Cruise had to get to save his wife. I hope they’re not planning Mi4 cos I think I ain’t gonna watch it.

(Translation: Today the weather was bad. It started to rain at 7am. Didn’t play tennis. Went to the gym instead. Met a girlfriend in the afternoon. We went to watch a Korean movie – Art of Seduction. It was a very funny movie.

Tomorrow, if the weather is good, I’ll play tennis. And I’ll cook kimchi soup. I (just) love Korean food!)

My second blog posting in Korean. I’m quite tempted to start a third blog – Happy’s Diary… in Korean – but my vocabulary is so limited that I think I’ll bore browsers to death with what I can write. It’s really quite frustrating because I can’t express myself properly and I’m worried that I’ll make a fool of myself with many wrong words. Actually, I’m quite ashamed of the fact that I can’t even master my mother tongue and I’m attempting to learn another difficult language. What to do? It’s the Korean craze… let’s see how long this will last.

In the meanwhile,
